Menalon Trail, "Part B" - 3 days
In part B you will be crossing the remaining 33 km of Mainalon Trail. The villages you will meet are:
- Vytina
- Nymphasia
- Valtesiniko
- Lagkadia
Drive from Vytina to Nymfasia to leave your luggage at Agropoli Hotel, freshen up, and return to Vytina where you will leave your car. Start the hike from Vytina and gradually climb to Old Vytina. There you meet the path of Mainalo part B, which leads to a huge limestone in the riverbed of Mylaon river (Arcadia's river). Reach the first stone bridge that connects Vytina with the western villages of Gortynia. The path you follow takes you to Nymfasia where you will spend the night and from where you will start the hike of the second day to Valtetsiniko.
Total walking distance: 8.5 km
Start with a short ascent to the Monastery of Kernitsi. Then walk higher through rural fields, enjoying the view of the surrounding peaks, covered with snow until late spring. The rest is in the ActiveNav App. Your luggage will be waiting for you in Valtetsiniko where you will spend the night.
Total walking distance: 16 km
Start with an ascent to the Castle of Valtesiniko and then continue through the fields to the south. Great view of the surrounding peaks! The forest path is easy to follow and leads you to streams and along springs. Through the fields you make your final descent to Lagadia.
As soon as you arrive in Lagadia, the taxi will be waiting for you at Kentrikon Hotel to take you to Vytina, after passing by Valtetsiniko to get your luggage.
