Discover Andros - 4 days
Andros, characterized as a wonderful cycladic island, cuts a dash not only for
- the natural beauty,
- the green-blue shores,
- the impressive network of trails but also
- for its architecture.
A lot to be seen and done in these four days.
Arrival in Andros and transfer to Stella. Rest and relaxation on Stella beach. In the morning prepare for an early start.
The ascent starts from a cobbled path near Nimborio. Pass the village of Ypsilou, which means height. There, at the highest point of the walk, enjoy the wonderful view of the stream of Platanos overlooking the villages of Apoikia and Steni. After passing the Monastery of Ag. Marina, in Pythara waterfall have some rest or a picnic with breathtaking views.
Hiking distance: 3,8 km, ascent 320m, descent 40m.
Return from Apoikia by taxi or on foot. If walking is your choice, pass by the picturesque village of Stenies and Bitsis Tower. Reach Gialia beach and walk up once more to get to Nimborio beach.
Hiking distance: 4,7 km, ascent 90m, descent 340m.
In the morning the taxi will be waiting for you outside Stella Pension to take you to Chora in Ormos Korthiou, from where the hiking starts. From Ormos go up to Kochilos village through paved paths and enjoy the view to the Aegean. Through orchards reach the ruins of the fortress of Paleokastro. Descend through the Dipotama gorge, cross the river and pass through the rich valley to Sineti, while passing by old water mills. Around Sineti there is a section of 3 km paved road. Walking on this beautiful path return back to Chora.
Hiking distance: 12 km, ascent 520m, descent 490m.
On the last day visit the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Naval Museum and the Archaeological Museum of Andros. If travelling without a car, go from Chora to Gavrio by bus.

Transfer from Nimborio to starting point of walk at Ormos Korthiou
Take the ferry from Rafina to travel to Andros. Leave your car protected in the parking lot of Rafina or take it to Andros. Depart from Rafina in the afternoon as the journey takes about 2 hours. Return from Andros with the afternoon ferry. From Gavrio, Andros port, take the local bus (KTEL) to Chora. It takes 1 hour to get there.
